I am not sure if you could rinse the eggs or not? I know Uromastyx eggs are sensitive to water getting on them during incubation but I do not know what effect giving them a rinse would have?

Here's a passage from Doug Dix's Uromastyx care sheet under "breeding,"

Note we still have bird seed in the cage as bedding, so some feeding might be occurring, but except for the benti and Saharans, most Uromastyx will not seek food at this time.

There, I think that should answer the question on what Doug Dix does. :D

I don't think my female not liking her nest box is a problem, because she has it in there now as a hide box, and she goes in it all the time. Dunno, though, Lyra can be an awful snot at times, so knowing that picky little lizard, she'd probably lay 'em on the millet and make more work for me, LOL.

Despite the fact that this post has strayed a bit from this topic, that is what this post is all about, so I thought I'd post this here.

These past few weeks, the dandelions have started sprouting, and uros LOVE dandys. Yesterday, I went to feed my male ornate, Nick, some Dandelion flower, wondering if he liked it as much as our mali. He was asleep when I reached my hand in the cage, but he awoke to the sound of the door open. He awoke fully the second he saw the dandelion and jumped at it.

Then Lyra, who has never eaten anything out of my hands before, saw a dandy, and ate it at once. If your uros are having eating problems, try dandelion. Chuckwallas enjoy dandy, as I found yesterday, but they don't eat it as vigorously as a uro.
