We bought our uro for our son from a local pet store (one that seemed to know their stuff not a huge chain type) and the the owner told us how to set everything up. He has been doing fine for a year and a half. For the past week, he has been hiding in his house and barely eating and I am worried. As I read your forums, I feel like the pet store owner had us set everything up wrong. Can you read our set up and offer some advice to help our uro? Thanks

We have him in a 40 gallon tank and he had us use Zoo Med Vita Sand Calcium Carbonate Substrate
He eats a mix of finch seeds, collard greens, turnip tops, and dandelion greens from the food store
no water dish
he has a 150 watt basking bulb that puts that end of the tank at about 115 degrees
The store had us put his shelter in that area.
We have a hood with a UV bulb and two 75 watt bulbs and we also have a blue night heat bulb that stays on all the time. The other lights are on a timer to act like normal day cycles
he also has a wood climber in the middle of the tank that he rarely uses

Please, someone help us

It seems your setup should be adequate. The temps are good, as is the diet. What type of Uro? It could just be a seasonal change. I know with ours, even though their micro climate doesn't change, they sense the diffference. Ours slow down this time of year and don't eat as much either. Keep an eye on him, have you weighed him with a good gram scale?

Try Lentels green or red Escarole, dandelion also try getting a mixed Millet bird seed at a hard wood store so if the digest it they wont be impacted, the vita sand will/could get them compacted. He could also be stressed out from moving what type of uromastyx is it? also get some slate tiles (rough texture) with two concrete bricks standing up (make sure its stable and against bottom of glass) so he has a basking spot and hiding spot underneath also get a cool side hide...
