I hope my sudanese animals do good in their new homes, which I am sure they will! I decided to postpone my uro projects until I am finished with school and will focus on tortoises until school is over.

Most of the eggs I had went bad.....I think they got to dry when I went out of town. They still swelled up, but are now collapsing. I opened one up and you can see there was early development of a lizard but it looks like development ceased at an early stage

Hi Norman,

Great looking pair you got there! At least you know they were furtile so you're pair did the job. I'm shure you will get them out of the eggs next year.

I'm new to the forum and find many for the uros have many names which is confusing to me. Are all the uros pictured here called Dwarf Sundans? Are ocellated uros the same as dwarf sudans? Being dwarfs what size are they as adults, which I assume is smaller than the ornates, etc. Would they be okay in a 20 long tank? They look so cute and some quite colorful. Are these dwarf uros easy to handle and care for? I hope I haven't asked too many questions but I know most of you will know the answers that I'm looking for. Thanks, and I'm anxious to read your replies

Hi you are right about all the names, that is pretty confusing thats why you best use their latin name: Uromastyx occelata, so everyone will know what you are talking about.....
U. occelata do stay a little smaller than U. ornata, adults will be about 28-30 cm +/- 11- 12 inch long. ( total lenght) So I don't know waht you mean with 20 long but if you mean 20 gallon fish tank, 24" x 12" x 16", that would be way to small for any Uromastyx. I keep my Uromastyx in cages that are +/- 150 x 60 x60 cm that would be 5 x 2 x 2 ft.

If you buy Captive Bred animals and provide the right cage, temperature gradient and food they will be a great lizard to care for.
