Okay, so what does one do with a self-brumating Egyptian Uro? I haven't really changed any lighting or heating with the little guy. But he still hides a lot and doesn't eat as much. Any advice? Should I just let him be and just offer food every few days? Do I need to adjust the photoperiod and temps according?

That is what we do with our Mali when he slows this time of year. We don't change his lights. He does what he does and picks up on the shorter days naturally. Some days he comes out and eats, other days he does not. He has done this every winter.

Hi SS. If you recall I asked you if your Egyptian has gone into brumation. We both got these guys from Lindsay. My little guy has been brumating since mid October. He has lost some weight over this period and hasn't eaten at all in a couple of weeks. I might be losing him. He should appear any day now and I have all sorts of foods ready for him in the hope I can get him to eat. Back in October, He also just suddenly started to wake up later in the day and not be awake as long. Then he started to sleep 3 to 4 days in a row. But for awhile, he would eat a little bit every time he did come out. I did not change a thing in his enclosure. The only thing that changed to any big degree was the humidity. It is much dryer in his cage now because of the Winter. Hopefully I will see him today and he will eat something. The thing is he does not appear to be ill because when he is active he does his normal routine such as digging in the sand, exploring, glass dancing, and basking. I hope he snaps out of this brumation soon because I miss seeing the little guy. Good luck Mike with your little guy. Feel free to PM me if you need details from me.

Thanks. Yeah, I also kinda miss seeing my guy come out. Plus its always frustrating when a pet doesn't eat! I may email Lindsey to pick his brain about it as well.
