i am going to receive a 18 month old yellow Saharan male. he will live in a 3x2x2 cage i built. i saw someone selling two red Saharan females. I have an empty 4x2x2 i just built and i am thinking of getting them..

How will red and yellows get along?(not planning on housing together) any aggression if i let them out of the homes?
will they try to mate ?(not trying just curious)

Thanks
Eric

I have not heard of any issues particularly with yellow and red Saharans together. Now you could see some male to female agression. We have a 2.3 group of red Saharans that are housed together all the time. They seem to do just fine. We haven't had them for a breeding season yet, but did see some mating behavior right after we got them and the males were pretty agressive towards each other. They seem to have settled down now.

I can't see why they would not try to mate if given the opportunity. BTW, welcome to the forum. I hope you find it useful.

I have a mixed pair (red male, yellow female) right now that I have not any issues with. They're just different color phases of the same species. From what Ive been told, the offspring should be a mix of yellows and reds, although regrettably, I have yet to experience this with my own animals. : (
