Just got my first Uro today. I *think* it is a Mali, but, it has a green back, not yellow. Otherwise it looks exactly the same as pics of Malis I have seen, I will get a couple of my own up soon.

Kind of funny story about the little guy - a year and a half ago I was in a pet store in a town about an hour away, and I saw this Uro, and I wanted it BAD. REALLY BAD. However, it had a $150 price tag. It just wasn't in the cards at the time.

Fast forward to this past Sunday - I find an ad on Craigslist for a bunch of snakes, and... A male Uro, for $15. I dropped them an email, she called, and we agreed to meet today. So I go to get the little guy, who is a total doll, by the way, and they told me that the husband breeds Blood Pythons, and he got the Uro in trade for some snakes and really didn't have any interest in it. So I started to tell them about the Uro at the pet store, and he says, "Well that is this one. He was there for over a year."

Go figure!

The moral of the story is - be patient, and you just might get a 90% discount, lol!

Hey thats's a great story!!! LOL!!! You will find Uros are a very interesting lizard to keep. I just got my first Uro as well, 2 weeks ago. I bought him from Lindsay Pike, who is also a member of this forum and world renowned Uromastyx breeder. My little guy is an Egyptian, Uromastyx aegyptius aegyptius. He is a farmed import that Lindsay hand picked and offered a group for sale. Sounds like you have yourself one of the fancier Uros. Possibly an Ornate or Moroccan. Please post a pic if you can. The experts on this forum will be able to identify the species for you. Again, welcome aboard!!!
