Hi All!!!
I recently got a Redback chuck and he is a character. I would like to ask all the experienced chuck keepers if you think it would be wise to get a female companion for him. The chuck is still getting used to his new home so I don't think I would look for a female chuck at this time. Another factor is will he get along with the new female? I know it can be tricky pairing up Uromastyx and some other lizards, but all the pics I have seen of chucks together in one enclosure seems to indicate they are peaceful toward one another. I haven't seen anything written on the net about Chuckwalla behavior, just a care sheet here and there. I would really like to hear from forum members on their opinion of this subject. Thanks!!!Image

i don't know anything for sure since i have never kept chucks but i have seen them paired up alot in the wild and a friend of mine always looks for a second if he runs accross one in the wild says he only finds adults and theirs always a second one close by so if the tank is spacious enough it should be ok but like i said i don't know for sure

Hi. Ya Thanks for that info cb. I have read that the male chucks establish territories in the wild. In fact, the first day I put my chuck in his enclosure, he was walking around exploring it and did the head bob - push up routine that male chucks do. The enclosure I have him in should be enough for a pair or maybe a trio. The inside dimensions are 58 3/4" Long X 29 3/4" Deep X 24" High. There are 5 hiding spots and 3 basking spots. I wish I could go out to observe chucks in the wild. I guess you would have to have binoculars so you could spot them ahead of time, otherwise they would disappear before you got close. I think gummybearpoop has said they will let you get close in the areas where he observes them.
