Hi Gene. You must be well prepared mentally in order to deal with Egyptian Uromastyx. They will play mind games with you and they will try to bend you to their will. As an example, my Egyptian is in semi brumation right now as it is Winter. Today he failed to make it out of his hide on his first attempt. He nearly got his head out of the entrance when he fell asleep. After awhile he gave up and turned around back into his house. About an hour later he was out and eating. He then basked, warmed up, ate some more. Went to the other food dish, ate, basked some more, then went back to bed. Tomorrow or Monday he is likely to have a poop after his routine and then go to bed. At this point, this time of year he is only out of his hide for an hour or so. However, sometimes he likes to hang out under the UV lamps. The point is if your Uros go into brumation you are going to miss them. On the other hand, if they are out for five hours a day, they are going to eat you out of house and home. When my guy was little he used to come over to the door and beg for Lentil seeds. Now he is a bit older, he waits in the area where I hand feed him treat foods. Anyway, Welcome to the forum and Good Luck with your little guys. They won’t be little for too long, but they won’t grow as fast as Iguanas or Monitor lizards so you can enjoy a gradual transition.
