Hey everyone.

i am a hobby breeder of U acanthinurus nigriventris and i think it's important to keep the blodline of the different species clean and avoid hybrids.

Species such as U maliensis, acanthinurus or similar usually have strong typical characteristics and it wil be easy to tel the different betwen the species,
But some times the typical color and pattern of an male mali uro can actually be an female north african.

Because one species characteristics often mimic other species, i would like to find som more accurate info about distinguish similar uro species.
such information may be helpfull to avoyd breeding different species which is believed to be the same.

Do anyone know where i kan find such information?

The baby below shows one of my 53 successfull hatchligs this year, They ar so beautiful :D

when I say scale numbers, I refer to the differences in the number of scales beetwen body parts.
or other ways to classify the uros with colors and patterns that can be misleading when determine the species..

I would look for stuff by Thomas Wilms. He did not reclassify U a.n. but I am sure he should have references in his book that can lead you to what you are looking for. Also a book out I think called the Reptiles and Amphibians of North Africa by Schliech and 2 other authors has in depth info on nigriventris and may help you.

I have the book already. It has a good description, but a little old. I'm looking for a recent update of the topic, but thanks anyway :)
