Hi guys,

You cant compare uros with chucks in this. I never bath any of my desert lizards and only if they are new to the collection and look dehydrated or if the lizards are sick.....

I agree with
phil on the not bathing uros..... I have seen lots of uro's with tailrot, although I do not know if they all got it from bathing I do know that its not really bennificial for a healthy uromastyx to get bathed so Why do it ?? And a uromastyx tail is way more difficult to dry properly than a chuck tail, so they are more likely to get fungus or rot underneath the spines.

LMS I see lots of uromastyx in zoo that do not look half as good as mine!

I never want to compare my care with the care in a zoo, the only advantage they have is space, I give the lizards way more atention, and I only have to know the husbandry of the few species I keep.......

I must admit I do not see the advantage of bathing a healthy chuck or uromastyx, other than cleaning them a little for a nice picture......

gr. Kamiel

fair enough. didnt really think about the differences in tails. my hatchlings seem to really enjoy a bath and im told in the wild when there are flash floods they are found bathing in the puddles left behind.

zoo care is no way as good at care of personal keepers. they just dont have the time to spend with each individual animal.

Hi Vers,

I think Phil told me he sold his Urmastyx collection due to private reasons......

Thanks, Kamiel. I was curious if the uro was, indeed, an algerian.

No it was not an algerian, it was U.a. nigriventris

Thanks for the confirmation, Kamiel. On a side note, are they (Algerians) available in Europe at all?
