At present i have 3 young Ornates, all nearly 12 months old, and cant beleive how tame they are, so much so that once the door is open on their viv they climb out for a wander, cheeky blighters ;)

If was to guess, going by the head shape i'd say Male for this one? Time will be the judge

They dont come much more chilled than this - lazy sod

And their viv, 3 in total in there, all nearly 12 months old, from a dutch breeder - basic i know, will add a bamboo wroot to clamber around on, but dont like too much stuff in there, as i like to see them.....

dont you love the way they sprawl out like that when they bask. my chucks get themselves into some of the funniest positions when basking it up. the best one is when they put all legs back like they are half way through the butterfly swim.
i love it when they move around on their belly too when on the basking rock. im sure they can sense the heat from below and move around to keep going to the hottest part of slate. so funny to watch.

i dont know if its an ornate thing or not, but out of all mine, these are the most tame, inquisitive and generally more willing to come out and play, so to speak, as they will just wander right out of the viv as soon as the doors are open :)

i think the pic of mine laid flat out could quite easily pass for being 'dead', sure had me fooled for like 2 seconds when i saw it there, lil bugger :)

I think the ornates are one of the best species for being very friendly and visable indeed. A lot of other Uromastyx are way more skittisch

My ornates are way more tame than my chucks. I just never take any lizard out of the cage to cuddle or something as these desert lizards all like it hot, but my ornates jump right on my hands when I open the doors of the cage to feed.......

awesome :)
i dont cuddle my reps either lol. well i suppose you could say i cuddle my snakes as they sometimes go in my lounge wear pockets :) and they like to go through my jean belt loops and look like awesome belts lol
Sol, my smallest chuck, jumps out of the viv to come play but Loki tends to chill and just climb on my hand if i leave it in the viv. I never have them out for long but even then sol will want to come back out again or just perch by the open viv doors and look around.
i only ever pick them up if i have to but i never have to much to be honest. they are quite happy to climb onto my hand. they seem to really enjoy watching me do the cleaning of the viv, i use a dust pan and brush to collect uneaten food in and they really like the brush lol.
