This is my first Uro. I'm really pleased with him. He's a digging machine and quite feisty. I purchased this year;ing from Deer Fern Farms.

Very cute! I love these guys. I just got some Egyptian hatchlings from Doug Dix (Deer Fern Farms) yesterday at a local reptile show!

I just bought an Egyptian hatchling (about 4 in. long) a few weeks ago and am really enjoying him/her.
They may be more drab than some of the other species, but if this one is any indication, they are GREAT eaters and have personality plus.
My guy isn't terribly happy at the moment as I just moved him to a larger habitat in a busier part of the house, but I'm hoping he gets over the move in a few days... it's just me here, so it can't be any busier than the pet store. :D
I'd given him some time to settle in in a quieter area, but didn't get much opportunity to view him and he was starting to get a bit skittish. Since his move, he's either hiding or "freezing"... he can stay in exactly the same position for HOURS!!. He's off his food too, but his weight was really good when I moved him and it's only been a couple of days so I'm hoping he picks up soon.
Any suggestions? I'm basically ignoring him at this point, and he has multiple hiding spots. I'm offering fresh salad and veggies daily and "free feed" a dish of juvenile iguana pellets mixed with crushed dried bean/lentil mix. I gave him a couple of crickets for the first time last week.... he approved.

Hi. Steve, that is a great looking little Uro. Did Doug specify if your Uro was aegyptica aegyptica or a. microlepis?
uros4me, Since you have your Uro in a new enclosure, you would want to make sure the temperatures are proper for your little guy. Remember he will need a high temp basking area so he can heat himself to digest his food. Also sometimes it can take awhile for lizards to adjust to the new environment. Got any pictures of the little guy?

Hello uros4me, I would imagine with the way he's been eating that he will be just fine! Just needs some time.

Sihunt, I would have to look back at some emails, but I believe micro. He has been quite slow to adjust. His color has gone from gold to dark browns and grays. Given that he was a yearling and it was the begining of winter when I got him. I 'm betting that's why.
