Maybe this will be the year!!! I have been trying and hopeful for successful Uro breeding for several years. Maybe this is the year. I witnessed this today!!! I have been seeing a lot of head bobbing and chasing. I took Kamiel's advice, about 3 weeks ago I placed a male with each female and started to increase the light time. Last week I placed the males back together for all of about 30 seconds and they were chasing and fighting. That seemed to kick them in gear and the courtship has increased a lot. I did find that I had to take just about everything out of the enclosure so that the female could not get under something and hide. I have done that twice last week and twice this week and the result is promising. Now I hope the other pair is successful and then the Sudanese!!

How long should expect to wait before the female should be ready to nest?

Successul nesting and incubation will be a whole new adventure as well.

Very cool Tim. Are those geyri? What species do you keep now?

Yes Tom, they are U geyri. I have 2.2 of them and 1.2 U ocellata. I also have a male Mali and a male Ornate.

Thanks all. I have seen him pin her down several other times. Now I just have to get the nesting area just perfect for her so she will bury her eggs and not dump them. Well, and then there is incubation. I can incubate tortoise eggs, but these seem much more delicate.

Well being new to the whole Uro breeding and egg laying thing, I missed some, now, obvious signs that one of my Geyri females was ready to nest. Today I found 11 eggs throughout her enclosure. Dammit!! I salvaged 10 and all have nice red dots inside. They look great and were just recently laid. None had shriveled at all. But, I know from others and past experience eggs dumped like this are almost always doomed. I have them in the incubator, but dang, how did I miss her signs??? Ugh!! Hopefully the other one will dig a proper nest.

Well 3 of the ten seem to have miraculously survived!! This is what they look like at 2 weeks in the incubator!!

I am very hopeful!! The other female is getting fatter by the week. Maybe she will bury her clutch.
