Emilie - Where do you want the crotch-shots to be posted?

The guys are sleeping now. The little male may be on to me - he is not venturing far from the rocks. I'll post the pics ASAP - just need to know where.

Church was great, Thanks! Church is always great. It's the only thing better than searching outcroppings and washes for cool lizards.

almost complete depletion of fat stores and lack of fat and muscle tone in tail. lack of muscle tone in legs also.
supplementation to be added daily to food as currently done.
serverely dehydrated, back up of faecal matter and possible kidney damage due to dehydration so overall health must be carefully observed. bathing to be done daily for next few days if it is not found to cause too much stress.
water to be made avaliable at all times and viv to be well ventilated to avoid high humidity, which is already in place.
unlikely to have fungal infection as skin is not raised but to continue observations as may be very early signs. i obviously was unable to tell if the skin was risen as i was avoiding handling all together until the vet visit.
gunk coming from eyes due to dehydration and possible irritation of previously used substrates and dust particals from transportation.
high stress due to lack of human interaction.
faecal matter is already looking more of a healthy colour indicating poor previous diet, matter to continue being collected (pooled) for screening.
Leas appetite was good today so shes on the up, just have to be hopeful that any damage done to kidneys can heal fully in time.

all of her health issues are due to previous poor husbandry and hopefully have been dealt with soon enough that it will not cause her any long term problems.

i hope she will be fat and healthy in no time

When you do handle her/them, try this - without removing her from the enclosure, gently rub the area just in front of her ear. Mine are still not crazy about being handled, but the female will lean into my hand as I gently make small circles to that area with my finger tip. Be careful of the scales that over-lap the ear opening. Do the same sort of thing just behind the arm pit area. They all seem to like that. You have to judge when the time may be right for this though... I hope this helps.

Hang in there! :D

yeh i do that with my boys already. loki has always liked it more than loki even though sol has now become the more tame of the two.
its so funny watching them puff up if you stroke the line of their spine, ive only ever done it a couple of times because of this though.

my boys also seem to like having thier head rubbed and over their p-eye. the rock iguana at the zoo likes this too. strange. im always very light handed though.
i never remove my boys from the enclosure unless they refuse to come out when i need them out which is very rare. they come out and on to me of their own accord. i dont pick them up. if they are out roaming and start getting interested in a place i dont want them to go i will just put my hand out in front of them and they will climn on, good boys! :)

hey guys,

my female chuckwalla is looking really bad. she stopped eating a couple of days ago so yesterday i had to syringe some water into her mouth and some natural pro biotic water to promote gut flora production. i also gave her a bath.

she looked better alsmot immediatley, ehr eyes were really sunken but after the fluid therapy her eyes looked much better though shes really not in good shape.

im going to repeat the procedure today and give her a slurry of nasturtium, alfalfa, b-squash, water, supplements, yogurt, strawberries and ill leave her out a stew in her vivarium to access though i doubt she will eat anything herself.

any suggestions to improve her health would be greatly appreciated. im taking her back to the vets monday but its sunday so i cant get any help for her until then.

im doing everything i know how to. ive used hydration vitamin / energy drink in bath water and mixed a little in with some water ive given to her. her viv is still blacked out and the temps are up a little bit but still she has good cool area which she is still using. shes still thermoregulating normallly but is so thin now, can see how fat stores are completely gone on her left side. her nose is really red from where shes been nose bumping too. she still has good energy in her which is a hopeful sign.

just need to get her perked up enough so she eats for herself and then once screen results come in can treat any issues. will have xray, blood test etc done at vets on monday to invetigate if there are any other underlying health issues.
