I just received a farm hatched baby via UPS from Florida today, and it is behaving a little lethargically. I was just wondering if it may have "jet lag" or how long of a settling in period there might be before it begins acclimating to it's new surroundings and I see more normal energy levels? At what point should I start considering that there may be more serious health concerns (i.e. are parasites common in farm hatched animals)?

I think it is very common for a newly acquired animal to hide a lot and act sluggish. I would make sure your temps are good and keep a close eye on it for the next couple of days. Place the food very near its hiding spot. Good luck. As for parasites in farmed animals, I am not sure. I would tend to view them as wild caught rather than captive bred.

Thanks for the reply, Tim.

What if the animal isn't hiding and hasn't seemed interested in food?

Uros can stress very easily. I have had terrible luck with Ornates. I wish I could tell you exactly what to do to get him eating. Just keep offering and hope it turns around. Do you have a trustworthy reptile vet you can see? I wouldn't take him to the vet yet, but it may get to that. How old is it? How big?

Make sure the temperatures are good, they like it hot! While these days it is not very hot outside ...... What are your temps, hot spot / overall / cool end / the spot where the uromastyx is at the moment .... Has he moved at all since you got him ?

It is a baby, only about 5 inches head to tail.

The hot end is at 110, the cool end at 78. He has moved, but only in spurts. There have been moments where he's shown some energy but it rarely goes for more that a few minutes, then the rest of the day he hides or just lays out in the open..

Things are looking up a little. It ate some millet seeds and devoured a dandelion flower. Still only seeing activity in the early morning, but hopeful he'll be ok.

Eating anything is positive. It does appear skinny, but it could be the photo. Keep doing the same and offer dandy flowers daily. Getting it to eat anything right now is a priority. Best of luck! It is a cute little guy.
