Just an inquiry to all you experts out there.
Is this species basically gone from herpetoculture? I am not looking to acquire any, just curious. I haven't seen any available for quite a few years and basically nobody mentions them anymore on forums or anything.

Thanks

i think i read somewhere that the hardwikii had been reclassified to the species of Saara at somepoint a few years ago. This may have changed however.

you see a few of them available in the UK but no where near as popular as the more colourful subspecies. its ashame as they have a great personality.

I think pretty much so. I know of a couple people that have small groups of them but breeding is pretty scarce and I am not sure why. There is a guy in AZ that I think breeds them but it seems every year he has some disaster where the eggs don't hatch for some reason or another or the ground is too hard and the babies all die in the ground. Who knows but they are pretty cool little uros. Not sure on the Saara thing. I know loricata anf asmussi have been reclassified to Saara but note sure about hardwicki.

I haven't heard anything about them being reclassified, but it does peak my interest. If anyone can find a source that confirms this please post it.

EDIT: I found this. Scroll to the last page (17) and take a look at the table.
