hi team - i am pretty new to the wonderful species of Uromastyx, and am based over in the UK.

I currently have 3 occelated's, 5 geyri's, 1 accanthinura and 3 Ornates, soon to be 6

Real glad i was introduced to this site, so i can learn from fellow uro keepers, and get things right, especially as my occelateds recently laid aswell as the geyri's, but t aint looking good on the egg front :x

I'll see you all around the forum somewhere, but off now to check out the info and pics

regards
Phil

Hi and welcome Phil. It is always nice to see that new keepers are finding out about the site. I don't spend any money advertising. I hope the site is useful. It is a bit slow at times, but so are the lizards!!

lol.
i imagine the site will only increase in popularity as the uros and chucks certainly seem to be.
i think its a real credit to the members that new people are joining just through word of mouth for the most part.
it goes to show the effort that people put into these species :D they really are such great lizards!
im still kind of glad that not many people in the uk know what a chuckwalla is though. thats prob really bad but i like the idea of having something that not everyone else has. plus the care seems to go down when reps get really popular, like toroises, turtles and bearded dragons. i am currently in the process of trying to get some reptiles rescued from a small pet shop that is neglecting them, they have a juvi beardie that looks to be suffering from cacium defiency and is very thin. i cried in the shop when the shop owner was adament that the care was of a good standard.

fortunatley our herp vets are much better than they used to be and infomation is better provided on their care needs.
im thinking about helping our largest animal rescue, RSPCA with educating people on rep care and getting better care sheets out there. there are societies that would like to see it illegale to own any reptile in the UK and there is a huge hysteria about salmonella :(
thankfully herptology is also becoming more popular in our universities which can only be good. this should both improve general knowledge, prevent poor care and the ignorance of people thinking touching a reptile will make you ill!
still im super careful, wouldnt want to encourage any negative attention to reptile keeping as there is enough out there already!

yeh i dont intend on buying anything but still going. will prob end up buying something im sure, it just cant be another animal lol.
im hoping they will have some plants there, thinking about putting live plants in the viv with the chucks.....hmmm.....a challange i expect! ive got some ideas for trapping water vapour so it doesnt make the humdiity in the viv any higher. i can just see the plants getting trampled all over lol.
