I am Tom from MI. Been breeding chucks and uros for 20 years. Met Norman recently and he asked me to check out this forum. Bred hundreds of chucks mostly common and a few hispidus. Also bred Mali, Moroccan ans Saharan uros. I have 27 chucks, a pair of Philbyi uros and a Cyclura lewisi hybrid.

I noticed a few of you commented on UromastyxWorld. That is/was a freat site. The owner is probably the most knowledgeable person in the US on uros. The reason you cannot get into the site is she only personally ok's members. About a year ago her son and his friend were shot in the head execution style in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Her son miraculously survived. Since then she has put in 100% of her time on her son and the conviction of the anmals that did it. She still keeps uros but that has all been put on the back burner. I am in the hopes that maybe someday she will get back to the forum and make it active again.

Anyway happy to be here and I hope to contribute.

Thanks
Tom Greb

Welcome Tom. So glad to have an experienced Chuck keeper here. That is a very sad story on the owner of UromastyxWorld. I am sure it consumes her time, as it should. Feel free to post a Chuckwalla care sheet if you have one. We have yet to have one posted there. Thanks for helping us make this a great site.

Tom,

When you scan it, can you send it via email? I would be more than happy to post it for you.

I am glad to see you made it on here Tom.

27 chucks.....I forgot you told me that you had that many. I wish I had 27 radiated tortoises. hahaha

Did I show you a picture of my new chuckwalla? But my chuckwalla is from a special locality where they grow a tortoise shell?!

Hi Tim

Will do. I scanned it and it came up as a jpg file in my documents. Since I am such a computer wizard I have to figutre out how to change it to a word file. LOL. Anyway as soon as I figure it out I will send it. Hey can you send me your personal e-mail to chuckwalla@bignet.net so I can mail it to you once I figure it out here.

Thanks Tom

That is a radiated tortoise.

The golden greeks are relatively cheap compared to some other tortoises. I got those 2 females for $300 shipped, but I no longer have them because I have that little bitty radiated tortoise now.

Those golden greeks I got were not shy at all and they started eating right away. Cool animals. I would've kept them but I don't have too much space.

Maybe you can talk to our friend about getting some baby golden greeks in the future.....

hi chuckwalla!
any chance you can upload the contents of your brain regarding chuckwallas? lol
you mentioned something the other day on a thread regarding too many dandelion flowers being hard to digest? i think we were discussing hatchlings but would be soo grateful if you could remind me. i cant seem to find the post now.

Also, is there any chance you would have any pictures of female femoral pores? the female i had ordered in has small femoral pores with a couple here and there that protrude a little. shes 11 months old and about 10 inches long. she has some nice colouration which also makes me worry that she isnt actually a she! lol.

if you see the thread advise please under sauromalus ater - other. would be such a great help and would really put my mind at ease. im going to have another proper look at her tomorrow and check her over.

shes not very friendly though and gave me a nice gape of the mouth when i was checked her over. i was also told she is territorial of her cage but im thinking shes just unsettled by being transported and i know she previously hasnt been handled much.

will i be able to get her pretty tame in time? i dont mind if it takes a long time i would just like to have her tame in the future.
i spoke to supplier and im pretty sure its captive hatched from wild caught parents. he said the parents are sold pretty soon after laying which is a real shame but he explained the incubation to me and how he kept them which im ok about and the chuckwalla seems to look healthy and meaty though i always like to fatten my chucks up with loads of beneficial plants such as nasturtium.

have you used bee pollen with chucks before? ive ordered some as it seems to be a great source of minerals, minerals and plant protein.

also i read that seasame seeds contain masses of calcium and very low phosphurus. can chuckwallas eat seeds?

your time responding would be grately appreciated.
