Hello. I just installed the last component to my Redback chuck enclosure. I got a Taylor 1442 dual readout thermometer. Great device. Has corded probes to read the warm and cool end of the enclosure. I am using a Philips Halogena 75Watt spot bulb that shines on the chuck's basking paver. It gets to 135F on one end, 118F in the middle, 103F on the other side of the paver. It is a 12" X 12" paver. If the chuck chooses the hot end of the paver he curls his toes up. LOL!!! He will move over a couple inches or jump off if he gets too hot. Although I am using a spot bulb, it will never exceed 135F with the ambient temp of 96F. I keep the hot end around 92F. The cool end is 84F. At night, 79F hot end, 74F cool end. I heat the hot end with a 150Watt ceramic heat emitter. I have it controlled by a thermostat. I also have dual 48" Reptisun 5.0 UVB tubes that are installed in a fixture that is suspended by chains that can be height adjusted externally. I made the enclosure out of 5/8" plywood. The external dimensions are 60"L X 31"D X 25 1/4"H. Here are some pics I took before I got the chuck. It looks slightly different now as I added some rocks here and there.ImageImageImageImageImageImage

WOW, impressive set up. You made it all? Very well done, you should be very proud. I am sure your Chuck loves it. Thanks for sharing your detailed information.

Thanks Tim. Ya I basically looked in different forums as well as clips on YouTube to get ideas on how to design an enclosure. I added some of my own ideas and I think I made out pretty well. It is not furniture grade in looks but it is very functional. I thought of the creature's comfort first, and the looks of the enclosure last. LOL!!!!
