Just thought I'd pop in with a bit (or a lot) of an update. April was insanely busy while preparing for and running the local reptile society's show and sale, and it just continued from there -- quit my day time job, went further with my own business, and acquired 9 more uros!! Ack! LOL

While I was wanting to get some ornates, none were available at the time (I still want some, but can't right now as our resources are pretty tapped out... as well as our electrical box and space!!). There's been quite the demand for local c/b uros, but no one does it.

Enter: me!

We picked up a pair of Sudanese from Troy (who, despite some weight loss when they first came home, are now doing REALLY well!!), as well as 3.2 saharans and 1.1 malis. The malis and saharans are the only ones that can be really found locally, but they're all w/c and tend to be fairly malnourished. The ones I have are doing superb, and I'm hoping at starting the breeding processes with some of them next year. Can't wait!

Pics will be up in the appropriate sub forums soon.

Hi. Good luck with your breeding program. The Mali Uros might be in demand in the future. I understand the country Mali itself is closed to export Uromastyx. I have seen Dispar offered for sale here and there. There seems to be some confusion between Dispar and Maliensis. I think Dispar is collected from Algeria. Maybe someone can clear that up. Well good luck and I look forward to seeing pictures of your breeding setup.

LOL

I'll be more successful if I can get the animals I'm looking for. So far, 0 for 0 for the female mali, with the one exception of the one I've had for awhile. The female I was supposed to pick up last Friday I don't think is even a Mali. I have an idea what it is, but need a second opinion. Just need to get some pictures taken and post them up.

Lucky you, Leezard. New uros are always fun. :D No wonder you're busy.
