you guys are so lucky. do you keep your chucks outside for the most part?
do most people in arizona get wild caughts? if so why? because a captive bred will be tame like a puppy.

I was actually looking for an iguana and ran across the chuck for sale on craigslist. I am not from az but have lived here for 7 years and its the first one I've seen. I keep him inside in a terrarium but bring him outside a lot. He is very tame. He even likes his leash. :) Here is a pic

Oh hi. I was talking to you on repticzone. Lovemychucks lovemysauromalus same difference!
I was the one that said about chucks not needing animal protein.

Is he wild caught? My new female appears to be WC and doesn't seem to be doing very well. She's not eaten since I bought her home yesterday and is closing her eyes a lot when basking. I'm not at all happy as I strictly requested a captive bred and she will prob end up dying now :(

Hi there again! :). I'm not sure if he was wild caught or not. The guy i bought him from said he got him at a reptile trade show/fair and that he was tame when he bought him. From what he said, my chuck is about 2 years old and he had him for a year. My fingers are crossed that your new chuck will pull through. Hopefully she'll adjust to her new environment and live a long happy life. What type of chuck is she?

shes a common chuck- sauromalus ater, more than likely from nevada im told.
she had only been with me for a day and a half so i know im panicking too early. its just that when i got my boys they were already pretty accustomed to human interaction and they eat like little piggies as soon as i gave them food.
she is rather skinny and i would love to fatten her up but its so fustraiting not being able to do anything to help her.
ive put all the favorite chuck foods for her, a small dish of water, hides for her to fit snug in, although she seems to be going in the hides that are not as snug??
ive blacked out all the glass on the vivarium so that she can feel more secure.
the gradient is right and ive got the best quality uv lighting in there.
shes only in a 3ft viv while shes under quarentine but obviously will go into larger viv, 5ft eventually.

she was up before the lights went on this morning so im going to have the lights come on and go off an hour earlier to try and suit her better.
i might have to wake up early hours in the morning to put food out for her so that she doesnt get stressed by watching me going into the viv.

im going to try putting some food in that hasnt been supplemented tomorrow, i only put a tiny bit on any that cant be seen by the eye once mixed up with the ig salad but she may be put off by the smell. i cant smell the supplements over the smell of all the flowers and herbs lol, but her nose and taste buds are bound to be much better than mine.

if she hasnt eaten by tomorrow midday im taking her to the vets and will have to do some emergency treatment.

im going to go potty at the pet store because they said the vet saw her and if he had known the first thing about reptiles he wouldnt have let them sell her to me. they wouldnt even let me look at her properly because she was in quarentine and i wasnt allowed in there. i couldnt see how thin she was until i got her out of the box to put her in the viv at home.

i know i should have pushed to see her better but they assured me that she was eating and eliminating well. but maybe she was and yet another move has pushed her too far.

fingers crossed. i prey shes ok and pulls through.

theres post of her on here. my baby boys are doing really well though. fatties and tame. i dont ever pick them up, they always come to me. didnt even take long.

if she pulls through i know its going to be a long time before she trusts me like they do but maybe them trusting me will encourage her to.

She's still not eating. Not even dandelion flowers!!
She is going to the vet on monday if she's eaten or not. She obviously has parasites/protozoans because she has passed a tiny amount of faeces which is a very light rusty brown colour. She must be so dehydrated I don't know how she has to energy to keep climbing the walls of her viv in an attempt to escape.
It looks like she might have used the water bowl as its a bit dirty but can't be sure.
Either way ill get the vet to inject her with fluids, calcium and vitamins on monday and I will prob have to treat her for parasites without really knowing what she has because there just isn't enough poo to screen :(
While she's at the vets ill prob take some pro-biotic yogurt to force feed her. Get all the nasty stuff over with in one go and then leave her alone for another week and hope she eats.
She also has white gunk in her eye when I first put her in the viv which seems to have gone but neither eyes are clear so she will prob need them treated too.
What a nightmare! I really have had the worst luck with this one. My boys seem ok although they've been hiding most of the day. This may be due to the fact we are having a really hot day! Their halogen is off but the mvb is still on.
Good thing they have such large vivs so I can still get as low as 79f in the cool end. Its just the average ambient temp that's a bit high.
I have to keep checking the quarantine viv to make sure its cool enough! The humidity is reading in the high 30s so I'm not too worried about the water bowl being in there for now.

Wish me luck! I'm going to need it!

Sounds like you are taking the right steps to give her the best chance. Here's a question for you. I know what to feed my chuck, but am not sure of how much.. I give him some food in the morning before work and then again when I get home. Just dont want to under or over feed him.
