In the breeding season the male will be on her all the time even after the eggs have been fertilized. It got so bad that the female would constantly hide and not do what was needed for good egg/baby development. This would include basking and eating. She would hide about 99% of the time so the male needed to be removed from the cage. With in a couple days(after she realized the male was no longer around I think) she began all normal activity. Just something to watch for.

For you reference the cage was 90 cm by 120 cm and I think a bit small. Maybe if larger the seperation could have been avoided.
